By learning about FASD and its impacts, we can better understand what each person needs to build a positive future.
Prue Walker is a social worker and FASD consultant who has been working with and advocating for those with FASD since 2008.
Prue's interest in FASD was sparked when she began working in out of home care in the Northern Territory. Many children were affected by FASD, but little was known about the kind of supports that would help. This interest led Prue to visit Canada and the US in 2009 to find out more about the needs of people with FASD, with the support of a Churchill Fellowship. She presented her findings at the APCCAN Asia Pacific Conference on Child Abuse and Neglect in Perth 2009, and since that time has has provided training and consulting services to people and organisations supporting those with FASD and their families. Prue also provides coaching and support to adults living with FASD and their families.
